International Olympic Committee conducts “retrospective” testing of Beijing Olympic athletes
Amidst new testing techniques for steroids, the International Olympic Committee has continued to test blood samples taken from competitors in the Beijing games. Now that the “IOC is storing doping samples for eight years [ ] they can be tested retroactively when new detection methods are developed.”
IOC has undertaken a serious pursuit of drug cheats, and it seems to have paid off. According to reports, six Olympic athletes tested positive for banned substances, two of which were medalists.
